Do Canadians need a visa for Hungary?
No visa for stays up to 90 days in any 180-day period (Schengen). The EU's biometric Entry/Exit System (EES) has been fully operational at all external border crossing points since 10 April 2026 — at your first entry the border takes your fingerprints and photo instead of stamping your passport. The ETIAS travel authorisation is NOT yet in force and no applications are being accepted; the EU has not confirmed a launch date and says it will give notice several months in advance. When it starts it will cost €20 (under-18s and over-70s exempt) and be valid up to 3 years or until your passport expires. Only apply through the official site travel-europe.europa.eu/etias — other sites are scams.
