Smoky Mountain Jeep Invasion: Dates, Tickets & Guide

The Smoky Mountain Jeep Invasion runs 20–22 August 2026 at the LeConte Center in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee — the 14th annual edition. Admission is 20 USD per day for adults, 10 USD for children 6 to 12, and free for children 5 and under. There are no presale tickets: you buy at the event, and any site selling advance tickets online is not legitimate. Everything else you need to plan around it is below.

Do you need tickets in advance?

No — and this matters, because it is the single most common way people get caught out. The organisers explicitly do not sell presale tickets and warn about online scams. Any website offering advance Jeep Invasion tickets is not selling you anything real. Pay at the gate.

What you do need to book far in advance is somewhere to sleep, which is the opposite of how most events work.

What happens at the Jeep Invasion

It is three days of Jeeps taking over Pigeon Forge — a vendor and manufacturer show floor at the LeConte Center, a Show and Shine judged vehicle competition with awards and cash drawings, and thousands of Jeeps filling the town's parkway and parking lots for the weekend. A large part of the appeal is not the ticketed portion at all: it is that the whole corridor becomes an unofficial rolling show.

Show and Shine entry is limited and registration closes ahead of the event, as do secure trailer parking and VIP parking registration. If you want to enter your vehicle rather than just attend, that is a decision to make months out, not the week before.

Where to stay for the Jeep Invasion

Pigeon Forge is the obvious base — you can stay within walking distance of the LeConte Center if you book early enough, and hotels along the parkway put you in the middle of it. Gatlinburg, about fifteen minutes further along, is quieter in the evenings and closer to the national park. Sevierville, just north, is usually the best value and the easiest to get in and out of.

Cabins are the regional speciality and suit groups travelling together particularly well. If you are bringing a trailer, confirm the property can actually accommodate it before you book — many cabin driveways in the hills genuinely cannot.

How early should you book?

Months, not weeks. Jeep Invasion weekend is one of the busiest of the year in Pigeon Forge, and by the week of the show what remains within a few miles of Teaster Lane is thin and expensive. Booking in the spring for an August event is normal here, and for a group or a cabin it is close to essential.

Parking and getting there

The LeConte Center sits on Teaster Lane, one street back from the main Pigeon Forge parkway, and the whole corridor slows dramatically during the event. Arrive early in the day rather than at midday, and expect the last few kilometres to take far longer than the map suggests. Secure trailer parking and VIP parking are offered but require registration ahead of the event.

Pigeon Forge runs a trolley service through the town, which is worth knowing if your accommodation is on the parkway and you would rather not move the vehicle twice a day.

What else to do in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg

You are in the busiest gateway to the most-visited national park in the United States, so build the rest of the trip around that rather than around three days of a car show.

• Great Smoky Mountains National Park — no entrance fee, but a parking tag is required for stops over fifteen minutes: 5 USD daily, 15 USD weekly, 40 USD annually.
• Dollywood in Pigeon Forge — the region's biggest attraction, and a full day if you commit to it.
• Gatlinburg — a walkable main street with Anakeesta and the SkyBridge, and the closest town to the park entrance.
• Townsend and Cades Cove — the quiet side of the Smokies and the best wildlife viewing in the park.

Scenic drives worth the detour

This is the real reason to bring a capable vehicle to east Tennessee, and it has nothing to do with the show floor.

• Cades Cove Loop Road — eleven miles, one way, through open valley; go at opening or not at all in August.
• Newfound Gap Road — the main crossing of the park, climbing to the North Carolina state line.
• Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail — a narrow one-way loop out of Gatlinburg past historic cabins; closed in winter.
• Foothills Parkway — long ridge-top views on the Townsend side, and consistently the quietest good drive in the area.
• The Tail of the Dragon on US 129 — 318 curves in eleven miles at the Tennessee–North Carolina line, about an hour and a half from Pigeon Forge, and a genuine bucket-list drive.

One thing to be clear about: the national park is not an off-road destination. Off-highway driving is not permitted there, and the park's roads are ordinary paved and gravel routes. The Jeep trails people talk about in this region are on other public and private land — check where you are actually allowed to drive before you plan around it.

Combining the Jeep Invasion with Nashville

Nashville is about 3 hours 40 minutes west of Gatlinburg on I-40 — close enough that a lot of visitors do both in one trip, and the pairing works well. Three or four days in the mountains around the event, then a few days of live music in Nashville on the way home, makes a genuinely good week.

Driving down from Canada

For Canadians, east Tennessee is a two-day drive and the route matters. From Montreal or eastern Ontario, the I-81 corridor through New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia reaches east Tennessee directly and is the better approach if the Smokies are your priority — it is prettier than the I-75 route and it arrives on the correct side of the state. From southern Ontario, I-75 south to Knoxville and then east is usually the simpler line.

The practical Canadian checklist: a valid passport or NEXUS card for anyone 16 or over at the land border, your Canadian Inter-Province Motor Vehicle Liability Insurance Card, confirmation from your insurer that your liability limits are adequate in the US, emergency medical travel insurance, and a US eSIM so you are not paying roaming for three days of navigation.
